Q2 W7: December 17-21

Merry Christmas. It is just one more week and we can stop to celebrate the fantastic gift of Jesus! I hope you are all as excited at home as we are in the classroom. And please join us as the Kindergarten through Fifth grade sings praises to Him on December 18 at 2:15 in the main auditorium!

Progress reports and missing assignment sheets went home in the Friday folder. Many of the low grades can be directly linked with the number of missing assignments. Please help your student look for any of these missing pages. they may be in their desks, backpacks, or miscellaneous work that is sent home on Fridays.

We are having a little Happy Birthday to Jesus party next week. We will have a yogurt bar and some wonderful hang out time. We are looking for 8 family sized containers of plain yogurt, some cut strawberries, some blueberries, some bananas, and some granola. If you are interested in supplying any one of these items please email me! We need the supplies by the morning of Friday, December 21 at drop off.

We will be spending time talking about the report part of the science fair project in writing class this week. The students should come with their science packet and writing binder to take notes. I hope this will make the typing of the report run smoothly at home!

Q2W6: December 10-14, 2018

Christmas is fast approaching and we are all getting so excited about out 2 weeks off. I know I plan to sleep in, enjoy my family and do plenty of fun reading! Although it is exciting to think about the break coming up, we do still have 2 full weeks of school. As I say often in class “there is always something to do in fifth grade!” Please help me as I encourage the kids to stay focused and work hard now so they can fully enjoy their break!!

The Anual CCC is December 18 this year. Please plan to join us at 2:15 in the main auditorium to hear the K-5th-grade students share their Christmas songs with you. Our kids are being asked to dress Christmassy. For example, red, green, gold, etc. clothing is great! We do ask for no hats or cute headbands to be worn. We want the faces behind our kids to be seen too!!

Science Fair proposals have mostly been approved, which means your student should start researching their topic. We will have some time in class, but much will be done at home as well. In order to stay on track (see the chart below), they will need to have much of the research done by Friday the 21st. Thanks for your help!

Q2 W5: December 3-7, 2018

What a fun, crazy and altogether wild week we had last week. Thank you to our field trip drivers and for all who came out to the vision night. I hope you all got your questions answered!

The field trip went so smooth and the kids had so much fun trying, fixing and trying again in their experiments that I know they are going to do great things with the science fair. Speaking of the science fair, the packets and proposal pages came home this week. Please take some time to read through the packet carefully and help your child complete the proposal page by Tuesday, December 4th.

We have a wonderful opportunity to bless a family in Paradise who lost everything during the Camp Fire last month. Please prayerfully consider bringing in gifts for an 11-year-old girl and/or a 9-year-old boy. The parents could also use some gift cards to stores like Target, Sears, Safeway or Trader Joes and etc. If you want to bless this family, please bring the items to the office by the end of the week (December 7th). Gift cards are available in the office and the school also gets blessed when you purchase them there!

Mrs. Schertz and I (well, Mrs. Schertz actually!) found a mistake in the science fair packet. On the back page are the check-in dates. I corrected the month and days but forgot to change the years. I am so sorry.  A new check-in sheet will be given to the kids on Monday with the correct dates! Thank you for your understanding!
