Quarter 3, Week 1: January 29-February 2, 2018

Wow that was a crazy, busy week! Thank you all for your hard work. I hope everyone was blessed by the science fair! And I was blessed to hear how many of you came to vision night. Feel free to ask me any questions you still have!

Next up is the open house. We will be busy getting ready for that as well as starting a whole new quarter! ACSI Speech meet (please see email from Molly Craig) is also coming as well as a new book club book soon. Fifth grade gets more and more busy so be sure you keep referring to the blog or your student’s planners!

We have a class project that Darlene Prentice is heading up for us. Your students have been informed about it, so you can ask them what they are thinking of doing. But just to give you a heads up, we are making a book. Each page will have something your child loves. It could be a picture of them with their favorite pet, or with their best friend, or with a favorite toy. It could be a picture of and activity they love to do such as a sport, acting, dancing or surfing. It could be a poem they write about something they love. The possibilities are endless; just be creative. Please have a digital copy of what your child loves put on a thumb drive or emailed to Darlene or myself by Friday, February 2.

This week we hit the ground running. Science Fair, reading unit, AR, etc. all are coming to an end very soon. Please keep an eye on your student’s planner or here at the blog for due dates.

Science Fair project is a four part project. The students should be completed with part one already, which is the research/experiment and notebook. Part two, the written report, should be completed by Tuesday. You will need to buy a plastic report cover for this. Parts three and four (board and oral presentation) should be completed over the next week and is due Monday, January 22. When you buy the plastic report cover you need to also buy a 3 fold presentation board. For a visual of how this board should look go to https://www.sciencebuddies.org/blog/putting-together-a-project-display-board . Enjoy the process. You are almost done!

January 25th is the TLCS Middle School Vision Night. If you are thinking of attending here or just want to know more about how our middle school works I highly recommend you come. Your student gets to travel around the various classrooms and hear about the fantastic things they will be learning next year. You also get the opportunity to meet the core teachers (English, history, science and math) as well as hear from Mrs. Imel about the plans for our growing middle school. I came last year (since my son was starting middle school) and learned more than I thought I would about our school and our teachers. I was blessed and my son had fun. If you have questions before the Vision Night, you may ask the office or shoot me an email!
