Week 11: October 30-November 3

We have made it to the end of the first quarter! It was a long first quarter, but the kids are in a great rhythm and I am excited to see them continue to grow in the second quarter!

Kid Kreations are coming home today (October 27). The kids’ art is fantastic this year. Please take a look and see what Christmas gifts you may want to purchase. Mrs. LoBue wants to be sure we get all the items back in time for Christmas so she needs your orders by next Friday (November 3rd).

This is the last week to get missing assignments turned in and to meet the AR reading goals. So please help your students make great choices to complete homework and get it all turned in! They wont have book club to read Tuesday – Thursday nights, so last minute AR reading is a great idea. And if your student has met the goal, they can always be reading toward next quarter’s goal!

Wednesday is the first Spirit Day of the school year. This time it’s PJ’s day. So please allow your student to come to school in his or her best, modest PJ set!!

Week 10: October 23-27

What a blessing you all have been in donating to the Houston Relief! We have a whole bin of art supplies, books, toys and etc. If you still have items to donate you may bring them anytime before October 25th!

We have only 2 weeks left in this quarter. Please continue to encourage your student to get their AR tests taken and all assignments turned in! If you need help getting onto Gradelink to find out what is missing, please contact Lora in the school office!

Tech Information!

Many of our fifth grade kids are struggling with getting their papers done in a timely manner due to slow keyboarding skills. I have asked the tech teacher to share some good programs that might help build our students’ skills.

We successfully made it past the first unit tests in our language arts program! They all did fantastic and had such great attitudes! I love these kids!!

Week 8: October 9-13, 2017

Explorer presentations are done. Your kids did great!! I am so proud of them. They learned to research, create slides, create a MLA bibliography and present that information to the class. They learned so much and did such a fantastic job!

Believe it or not there is only 4 more weeks in the first quarter! Progress reports went home in the Friday Folders. Please take a look and talk with your student about how they feel about their grades. I did remind them that this is just a progress report and those grades aren’t final yet. There is still a chance to raise them up!

This week marks the first week we will have Reading, Writing and Spelling unit assessments. The students have been working hard this year learning reading tools and writing methods and will have the chance to show all they’ve learned. Please be sure they eat well and get plenty of rest this week. Also, be sure they bring their AR reading book to class. They will have plenty of time to read in class this week.
