Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all stay safe and have a wonderful time with family and friends!

I just wanted to let you know about a few things…

One is I sent home a list of all missing assignments with each student who is missing assignments. This is a great week to get caught up on anything that has just not gotten done yet. Please ask your child to show you that list and help them make a plan to accomplish it this week.

Two is that this is also a great week to get started on their science project. Taking them to the library or helping them find good sources online to research their chosen topic would help to really keep on track with our timeline!

Three is to remind you that each student has set up an AR goal. They can be working on that goal by reading and taking the quizzes this week. The end of the quarter isn’t until January, but it would be great to keep them from waiting until the last minute.

Four is I will not be available by email until Tuesday. I have a family thing this weekend and a staff retreat on Monday. If you need my you may email, but I  most likely can’t return it until Tuesday when I’m back in the classroom! Thank you for your understanding!

Tag our class on any Instagram pictures of your kids so we can all see what we are doing!! I will miss all my kids!

Blessings!

What an awesome field trip we had this week. I posted some pictures in our Instragram site! If any of you or your students got some good pictures be sure to tag “riggans_5thgraders” so we can all see them! Thank you to all the parents who drove and chaperoned! It was super successful because of you!

We have a few exciting changes coming up in our class this week. First off, we will begin our cursive practice. The spelling menu will be the full 30 points PLUS they need to write 5 words in cursive. They will need to write those same 5 in cursive on the test on Friday as well!

Second, we will be taking the big Math Test showing off all the math we have learned so far this year! They were told today so they can have a chance to begin studying! They will have a study guide and some practice time on Monday in class.

We also will begin a new science unit. We will be starting to study weather! I am so excited. This is going to be a fun unit. We will spend time during each science class talking about their science fair project, but we do need to move on in the curriculum! Be sure you read through the science fair packet and are talking about the project ideas at home. As soon as they have settled on an idea they may make their request (the last chance date is November 20). In the meantime, we will learning all about the weather!
